Home Sweet . . . Moon?

You just read a fictional story about living on the moon. Scientists believe humans really could live there one day. Would you move to the moon?

NASA, the U.S. Space Agency . . .

First landed astronauts on the moon in 1969.

Is planning to go back as soon as April 2027.

Hopes to one day build homes on the moon's surface or in floating space stations.

Life on the Moon Would Be . . .

Dry

There’s no flowing water or oceans. That means no swimming!

Scorching Hot and Freezing Cold

Temperatures move between -280 degrees Fahrenheit and 260 degrees Fahrenheit!

Dangerous

The moon doesn’t have air you can breathe. So you’d have to wear a spacesuit or be inside a structure (like a biodome!).

Fun

There’s much less gravity. You could jump 10 feet high!

Exciting

The moon is mostly unexplored. You’d see incredible sights, like hardened seas of lava and giant holes called craters.

Filled With Wonder

You could study the moon up close and be part of experiments that would change space travel forever!

Think and Write

Would you want to move to the moon? Using details from the infographic, write a paragraph explaining why or why not.
